C3 Corvette Summer Auction Results with PRICES!
Of the thirty C3 Corvettes at Mecum's Florida Summer Special, July 10 to 13, 2024, sixteen were sold with the remaining fourteen not reaching their respective "reserve" prices.
Does this indicate a softening of the C3 Corvette market or is it a seasonal occurrence?
I believe the Florida summer heat did not help things.
Of the two days I spent at Osceola Heritage Park in Kissimmee, the heat and humidity were high and unpleasant, and even though the auction takes place in a massive air-conditioned building, most of the cars are outside, some under tents, so you will be exposed to the weather as you inspect vehicles.
And inspect them you must.
I met a nice couple who bought a 1981 Corvette (lot W36). They did not inspect the vehicle before they paid $9,900 for it, which sounds like a real bargain.
I shot pictures and videos for the channel so I got to see quite a bit of it, and based on my experience "refreshing" my 1981 Corvette, I can assure you there was no way I would have paid THAT much for it. Maybe five grand considering all the work necessary to bring it up to my standards.
And that brings me to the other "factor" as to why so many good cars did not sell.
Between the possibility of buying replacement parts and/or doing repairs to auction vehicles, plus all the other "invisible" costs such as commission fees, insurance, registration, and transportation, that "bargain" price can usually exceed its value.
In other words, you don't want to spend say $5,000 fixing a $10,000 purchase so you can have a decent $12,000 car.
There were a couple of very nice C3s that sold for low prices. In those cases, the mileage of the vehicle played an important role.
A high-mileage vehicle may bring less money even if it is in excellent esthetic and mechanical condition.
It will be interesting to see what buyers will be willing to pay for C3 Corvettes next year during the two-week January Mecum auction in Kissimmee.
In the meantime, here's the list of videos, including timestamps, of the thirty C3s at the Florida Summer Special auction.
Enjoy!

Replacing C3 Corvette SPARK PLUG WIRES
Переглядів 1,3 тис.14 днів тому
A comprehensive how-to video for the DIY mechanic on properly removing, then installing, 8mm pre-cut spark plug wires on a 1981 C3 Corvette, information that applies to most C3s. This is an involved job that can be done by the home mechanic with simple tools and a ton of patience. I cover removing the engine block plug wire shields, how to remove the old wires, SBC V8 firing order, how to prepa...

Stole it...man the C3s are falling in price, get one now!
Peaks and valleys.
As a corvette super fan my number one dream car, some of these ones that are showing wouldn't be interested in, as the low miles is nice but not enough to bid against other person, not surprised sone are not fetching lots of money, better off looking for a these dream cars on a dealership that a expert on classics, corvettes are always nicer in person photos and video don't do it justice
I like the late 80’s two tone cars. Very unique
C3, 4 & 5s are the best buys right now. The only ones I would stay away from are the cross rams from '84 and the LTs from 1993-1996. The sweet spot I think is 1997-2004 w/ the LS1. If you can find an early 70s w/ a Big Block that would be a cake topper.
They're not even keeping up with the same era F body Camaros and firebird. Maybe it's a large supply issue
Thank you for the video. I'm trying to get my horn to work and I was looking for a non tilt steering wheel example
This isn't necessarily a bad thing. It's just turning into a buyers market. I tried to buy an 80 off an older man looking to part with his and he checked market prices and went well over my fair offer because he thought inflation was on his side. It's been a sellers market for a while. But now some younger guys and those that have been saving can finally get behind the wheel!
Good point! 😊👍🏻
ANOTHER GREAT VIDEO, THEY JUST KEEP GETTING BETTER, AND BETTER... THANKYOU FOR THE VIDEO.RUSSELL WAYNE BOYD.KEY WES FLORIDA,
The 82 Corvette with the crate engine in it. Probably gained a lot of horsepower when I got rid of the emissions
Beautiful
It’s nice to hear something I really want is going down in price
Nice! Brought good money too!👍
Thxs for the effort man good video!
Thank you for watching! 😊👍🏻
Boomer's are getting old. Younger gens not interested.
Outstanding, great job, you inspire me. Thanks for all your “how-to-videos”.
Thank you for watching! 😊👍🏻
If you pop up a vette hood to see the motor and no plastic buy it if tons of plastic pass it on.
Good video of the c3 headlight system
Thank you for watching! 😊👍🏻
It just looks pukka. I had a 1:18 model of this exact car as a kid, and still have it actually.
The car is lovely. For sale?
No.
The rad slides in and out with the shroud still in, just keep it towards the engine. Thats how it's done in the factory. Easy pesy in and out without fighting the shroud. The shroud easily comes out and goes back in then.
Original flash chrome valve covers, extremely hard to find in this condition today. 😎
It's a buyer's Market , for both Classic Cars and Motorcycles ! Folks in their 70's and 80's are selling their Collections and their Bikes and cars in Garage's ! 🤔
Do you use a lower radiator hose spring on your car? Mine had one but it was rusted to pieces, and would’ve been sucked into the water pump.
No, and fortunately, have had no issues. 😊👍🏻
@@76vetteThanks
👍
Was on of my favorites 80 to 82. Did alot of convertions with hard nose and tail, rear tail wing and bubble lights, side ground effects, with Daytona noses. We made a modified side with flares going into body and a wrap around rear lower piece with twin monza turbo pipes on each side. We're a Sharpe looking car but had to be careful with the nose, all pulling in and out of any driveway or business had to be done with an angle, anything straight on would tear bottom or break the nose center piece.
Wasn't 82 only rear with pop up rear window? Or was that the special edition faded side, with finned wheels in cross fire injection.
Only 1982 Collector Edition Corvettes had the opening rear hatch.
Would that be a cross fire vette that had the fade down the side with those finned wheels? If so we used to get them all the time at our used car dealership. The had a major design flaw in the intake system, with the cross fire dual intake throttle bodys, and what it was they put radiator sensor to high in radiator and if it got just a little low on antifreeze/water the computer thought it was cold and turned on the choke. They would load up and puff black smoke, fowl plugs. People even used cars places got tired of it and dumped them. We had 4 at one time! Chamged plugs and filled with antifreeze on all of them and drive the interstate for awhile to let it heat up and work, clean out motor and exhaust. Such a problem with a simple solution. Now you know if you run into a cross fire loaded up.
Dang great price. I love my c8 but looking for a 82 model
A car this beautiful is just a privilege to witness. My god, what a machine.
